A water-based, immersion technology, the science of autodepostion coating lies in controlled chemical reactions along the surface of any ferrous metal part. As the part is lowered into the tank, a reaction occurs along the part’s surface releasing iron ions. These ions react with the solution in the tank causing a coating to form on the surface of the steel. As the coating forms, additional ferrous surface reactions are blocked and no more iron ions are created. Once all ions are used, the coating reaction stops and the part is left with a uniform coating on all exposed surfaces. This includes tight corners, edges, and the insides of tubes and pipes.

How Autodeposition Can Work For You
The experienced designers at Therma-Tron-X, Inc., can incorporate this coating technology into many material handling systems including Sliderail Square Transfer (SST), monorail conveyor, programmable hoists and/or power & free conveyor. The coating process begins with a specialized alkaline pretreatment regimen, therefore eliminating need for the phosphating steps normally used in other types of coatings, and reducing overall required floor space. In the autodeposition phase, due to the chemical basis of the reaction, electrical charge and part grounding is not required and overall energy consumption is lowered. In addition, parts can be racked more densely without concern over throw power. (i.e. the power required to “throw” coating into recessed areas.)
After the autodeposition immersion, parts are exposed to a rinse that gels the coating film prior to curing. Thus, providing a tough, corrosion resistant layer. Parts can then move on to the topcoat process of your choice. Therma-Tron-X employs the latest in technology, design and construction of each system. Examples of this can be seen from the PLC control and software monitoring package.Therma-Tron-X is constantly looking for ways to make our systems more energy efficient and user friendly.
